FLOWER QUEEN, restrained off the pace to the final quarter mile, was sent up on the outside and wore down GAMBLERS ACE in midstretch. ARIEL SWEEP, outrun for the first half mile, rallied from between horses entering the stretch and finished full of run. PAVOLD broke slowly and raced wide while closing a big gap. NEB JR. had no apparent excuse in an even effort. GAMBLERS ACE gave way suddenly after showing the way to midstretch. TINY ADMIRAL faltered after making a mild rally in the early stretch. Won driving; second and third the same. SURE QUIS made the pace under good rating, saved ground and was hard ridden to hold her advantage. GOLD REWARD, unhurried while saving ground early, came to the outside to make his bid and finished strongly. MR. RHYTHM found his best stride too late. BELLE CHANTEUSE was never a serious factor. TONEY GRIER bolted to the outside on the first turn, was quickly straightened away and raced wide thereafter. GEM LURE was prominent to the early stretch, then faltered when set down for the final drive. COULD SURPRISE INJURED HIMSELF AT THE GATE PRIOR TO THE START AND WAS ORDERED WITHDRAWN BY THE STEWARDS, WITH ALL MONIES WAGERED ON HIM BEING REFUNDED. Scratched— 47378 Could Surprise, 106. PILOT MODEL outsprinted his opposition from the start, saved ground to the stretch where he drifted out and, in a stiff drive, held CHERRY BULL safe. The latter was never far back while racing between horses early, came to the outside on the final turn and, while being carried wide, finished gamely. AIRWISE moved through between horses while making a bold but belated bid. EASY TRAIL faltered after making a menacing bid on the stretch turn.
