GIN TONIC was saved within striking distance for the first half of the trip, then came strongly nearing the far turn to catch RESIGNED and drew out under hand riding in the last sixteenth. FROM AFAR trailed for six furlongs and raced wide while making his move, but was up to take second place in the final strides. RESIGNED took a short lead when TOP NEWS weakened, then tired in the stretch. WILLIAM MORTON was never dangerous. CLEETSIE faltered after having made a mild move at the halfway mark. LIABILITY improved his position steadily in the last half-mile and was going strongly on the inside at the end. CALORIMETER displayed a tendency to race wide, but was close up throughout. FINE FETTLE made a belated move in the stretch. WISENHEIMER and FLORIDA BELLE had early speed but weakened.
