Social Outcast Goes 1:39 3/5 Mile See Massachusetts Next Likely Start Move Indicates Vanderbilt Star to Pass Metropolitan For Lighter Weighted Test BELMONT PARK, Elmont, L. T.,N. Y: May 11.— Alfred G. Vanderbilts Social Outcast indicated this morning that he is more likely to start in next Thursdays 0,000 Massachusetts Handicap than in Saturdays 0,000 Metropolitan Mile. The big son of Shut Out worked an impressive mile in l:393s on the main track this morning, skipping along unaccompanied in fractions of :361k, s and 1:13*5. This move is a mite close for a race on Saturday, but appears perfectly spaced for next Thursdays richer test, and, as trainer Bill Winfrey has said, Social Outcast "has tux will travel." In an obvious move to attract Metropolitan candidates to the Suffolk Downs events, the weights for that mile and a quarter, the "big four" of the Belmont mile have been assigned appreciably lighter imposts in the Massachusetts. High Gun and Fisherman each have three less than in the "Met," Helioscope has four less and Social Outcast two less. High Gun and Fisherman are believed to be definite starters here on Saturday, but Social Outcast and Helioscope may travel a bit farther north. Chevation in Good Move Foxcatcher Farms Chevation. who has showed little or nothing in his two starts this spring, also worked a mile in l:393s, finishing strongly and indicating that he is reaching his good form of last year. Louis Lee Haggin, H.s Hen Party, who turned in a good race in the Acorn Stakes, stepped a handy six furlongs in l:123s, with fractions of :36, :48 and liOO. She] is eligible to the Coaching Club American Oaks on May 28. but may be seen under silks in an overnight event before that 11 -furlong classic. Maine Chance Farms Fascinator, a good work horse, sped five furlongs in :5925 on the lightning fast strip, easing up six panels in 1:1235. Greentree Stables Palm Tree, who stopped badly in his latest Belmont effort, sizzled a half in AGVs this morning, while the same stables Dream of Glory went a handy seven furlongs in 1:2625. Both appear ready for good efforts. Bill Winfrey sent Vanderbilts Coaching Club candidate. Sometime Thing seven furlongs in 1:29 in company with Up Betimes, the pair working on even terms. Sometime Thing was narrowly beaten by High Voltage in the Acorn, tossing off the , race when she paused to look up the Widener course. The work watchers were uncertain as to whether they, their watches, or the track was crazy when T. I. Harkins Battle Dance ripped off three furlongs in :331s in handy style. The three-year-old showed nothing in his races here, but stepped seven furlons in 1:2135 in a winning race at Santa Anita last winter. The local strip seemed this morning almost as fast as the California tracks.
