Sir Winston Churchill Buys 42-Ac re Stud Farm in Kent Special to Daily Racing Form LONDON, England, May 11 Reuters. — Sir Winston Churchill, whose pink and chocolate racing colors were made famous by wins of his popular gray horse, Colonist II., in recent years, has now bought a stud farm for horse breeding it was announced today. He has purchased for an undisclosed figure the 42 -acre New Chapel Farm near the Lingfield race track, 30 miles south of London from the estate of the late Mr. John Dewar, whiskey millionaire. The farm, which is not far crosscountry from Sir Winstons country home at Chartwell in Kent, includes its own track and stabling for 26 horses. He will now be able to transfer there some of the horses kept on his general farm at Chartwell. Colonist II., who was Sir Winstons first and most successful purchase, won 6,400 in prize money. Sir Winston Churchill is a member of two of the worlds most exclusive racing bodies — The Jockey Club which controls English flat racing and the Thoroughbred Breeders Association.
