The Luck of the Irish St. Patricks Day in 1938 was a "red letter" day for Charles McNutt, a deputy sheriff of Pulaski County, Arkansas. He was at Oaklawn Park that afternoon and wagered on Peggy Torch and Miss Firefly in the Daily Double. Both horses won and McNutt held the only winning combination. He collected ,002.80, the entire pool.
