Champion Florida Mare MIAMI, Fla. — The mare, Leonardtown, could be rightly called the mother of champion Florida race horses. Three of i the last six winners of the Florida Breeders Stake at Hialeah have been out of Leonardtown: Werwolf in 1949, sired by Ariel Game; Wolf Gal in 1953, sired by Samurai, and Merriwolf in 1954, sired by Noble Hero.
