Gallant Dolly Regarded Highly in Vernon Manor Has Eight Opponents in Best Race on River Downs Program RIVER DOWNS, Cincinnati, Ohio, June 11. — Mondays eight-race card is made up strictly of platers. Racing secretary Lawrence Bogenschutz was fortunate to get the maximum field in seven of the eight races considering the heavy rains which have the track a veritable sea of mud and slop. The Vernon Manor will take the top billing on the card. For four-year-olds and older horses which are valued at ,000, the event has a six-furlong staging and there are nine who will face starter Carl Burns. Comprising the line-up are H. T. Lar-kins Afi Gold, the Mikel Farms Hypo-style, R. Nardinis Cuff Link, S. A. Alexanders Ambrose Ace, Hufford and Size-mores Old Boots, E. R. Morris Gallant Dolly, the K. and O. Stables Top Attraction, the C. B. and L. Farms Reserve Fund, and B. Harts Rolling Happy. Any of the above could be in line for the bulk of support in the wagering. Gallant Dolly, however, appears to be seeking a spot to turn in one of her good performances and is dropping down the class ladder slightly. In her most recent effort, she finished a strong second to R. Nardinis Hustle Gal. The company was of the ,500 to ,000 type, and she was beaten but three-quarters of a length for it all. The winner was timed in 1:12% over a lightning-fast strip, and she was on top to well inside the furlong marker. The softer footing, which should be in line for Mondays card, could find this well-seasoned campaigner leading the field from start to finish.
