Hancock Jr., of Claiborne Farm, reported that the imported stallion Tulyar was "vastly improved" from the illness that forced his withdrawal from his first American season at stud. "The recovery has been slow and gradual with nothing sensational about his return to better health," said Hancock. "We are very encouraged and feel certain that we can save him unless he suffers a setback." Hancock reported also that the farms quota of four foals by Nasrullah had been filled and that the newcomers were equally divided as to sex. Fillies are from Chal-ladette, a half-sister to Challedon, and Blue Jeans, a daughter of Bull-Lea — Blue Grass. Colts are from Bourtai, dam of Banta, Delta and Levee, and from the Heliopolis mare Frenabilbepa. Some 140 foals have arrived at Claiborne about equally divided as to sex. From Hancocks own 34 mares he has 16 colts, 16 fillies and two yet to foal.
