I j , j I j j I , j Rillito Park Has Successful Meet Average 4#825 for 46 Days at Tucson Course; Sherman in Riding Feats The five-furlong Rillito Park track at Tucson, Ariz., recently completed a successful 46-day meeting. The session opened November 5 and ran through April 8, 1957, with racing on week ends only. The daily average attendance was 2,930 as compared with 2,863 or a gain of 67 per day over 1955-56. The total mutuel handle was ,-381,948 for a per diem average of 4,825. At the corresponding meeting the previous winter the total handle for both thoroughbreds and quarter horses was ,085,596, while for this year for thoroughbreds only it was ,981,948. Jockey Joseph Sherman turned in two riding feats at the meeting, riding four winners out of seven mounts on March 31 and four out of eight on March 3. Ima Rambler and Ned Oak combined for a Daily Double pay-off of 24.80 on March 2. the highest of the meeting. Two-Day Fair Session Following the close of the regular meeting, the Pima County Fair staged a two-day session, April 20 and 21. Here the daily average attendance was an estimated 2.300 and the mutuel handle, 8,095.
