ANIVRAM took command at once, raced WEDDING RING into defeat and, after settling in the stretch with a short itad, continued gamely to withstand SMOOTH PALM. The latter gradually worked way forward, closed strongly under punishment but could not overtake the winner. BANDIT JOHN saved ground throuqhout in a qood performance. APASAY raced evenly without mishap. CfiMMOPLAY faltered during the stretch run. ONE GRAND raced wide through the stretch. WEDDING RING engaged ANIVRAM for a half mile but had nothing left for the stretch run. ISASWEETIE showed nothing. GALLANT DOLLY began poorly. YANKEE DO steadily improved position to the stretch, bore to the inside when set down in the drive but wore down DIOGENES in the last seventy yards. DIOGENES, a keen factor from the start, took command entering the stretch, continued determinedly but was unable to hold the winner, although easily best of the others. ATRUST, racing on the outside to the stretch, could not threaten the leaders when hard ridden during the drive. EMPRESA lacked early foot but finished fairly well under urging. BLUE WILLOW began slowly. CRYSTAL SANDAL raced prominently until welt inside the stretch, then gave way. BUSHERS DOVE took command at once, set the pace until challenged by DIOGENES, then failed to stay. TWIN WILLOWS could not keep up. BLUE SALLY was through early. WAY HIGH showed nothing. BERNBURGOO, away sluggishly and outrun to the stretch, responded readily when set down in the drive, but was unable to seriously threaten MUNCHAUSEN. STAR ROVER raced well for three-quarters mile, made a mild bid in the early stretch, but faltered during the final furlong. HASSEYAMPA, far back and outrun to the last quarter mile, finished fairly well under urging but was unable to reach the leaders. PRECIOUS STONE tired during the drive. FULL FLIGHT could not keep up. BIG SWEEP took an early lead, set the pace until challenged by MUNCHAUSEN, then failed to stay. DARK TOGA had early speed and appeared beaten when caught in close quarters during the stretch run.
