May 11. — Private Affair, a chestnut mare performing the blue and gold silks of Mrs. Julia Parzych, accounted for the curtain raiser on Saturdays program when she showed the way to eight rivals under the guidance jockey Robert Venne who is in second place in the torrid battle for leading riding honors at the Fort Miami oval. The margin of victory was one length over Al Well-. mans New Stream, who was installed as the favorite eking out a head verdict over W. Bells Dandalo for the place award. The daughter of Beauchef negotiated the five panels in 1:02*,5 over a track termed slow and returned 2.20 straight. Secret Impluse carried the colors of Mrs. M. D. Palm to victory in the second race energetic handling of Vincent Milligan. earned a neck decision over R. McMichaels Indian Maiden. The latter was a half length in advance of C. Andersons Mia Proof. Secret Impulse returned 9.40 and completed a juicy 90.80 Daily Double payoff. Jockey Milligan kept his charge under wraps the first half mile, applied his whip to the geldings flanks nearing the final bend and the Alsab speedster responded surging to the outside and getting up in time under extreme punishment, while Indian Maiden who cut out the pace to midway of the stretch hung, lacked the stamina and speed to cope with the winner the final few strides. Mary Paiges Turnesa, a Ten to Ace mare who is owned by Mary Paige and conditioned by R. A. Simms. got home first in the third event to the delight of the longshot players, returning 8.20, .00 and .80 across the board.
