EKABA saved ground to the stretch, remained next to the inner rail for the drive and, responding to strong handling, disposed of the leaders and won going away. SIR PUTNAM, well placed from the start, finished resolutely under punishment but was not good enough for EKABA. BARBARIAN went to the front early set the pace until well inside the stretch, then faltered. DECK raced prominently to the stretch but had nothing left for the drive. SHOW MAN had early speed but failed to stay. SERCIAL was never prominent and had no mishap. BROTHER JOSS and BONJO raced far back the entire Scratched— 136154 Here Come Joe, 115; 133681 Third Base. SWOOSE, in close quarters soon after the start, was steadied and saved ground to the upper turn, then moved around horses to take command and, responding to brisk handling, won going away. NEMESIA, well placed from the start; closed strongly under punishment but could not reach the winner, although much the best of the others. BRAU IMP dropped -far back after the initial quarter mile, was sent between horses at the stretch turn and finished willingly but was unable to threaten the leaders. HALCOLETTE lacked early foot, made a good bid in the early stretch, then weakened. RONAS failed to respond when set down in the drive. PETRINA raced well to the stretch but had nothing left for the drive. CEBETTE was never dangerous. PASTORAL could not keep up. EMIWAY took command early but tired badly after fiv e-eighths mile.
