Top Boys to Ply Trade During Ak-Sar-Ben Meet Williams, Mundorf and Collier All Familiar to Omaha Patrons OMAHA, Nebr., May 11. — The prospects for an outstanding rider colony at Ak-Sar-Ben for the 1957 season looks exceptionally good. Among those who have already expressed their intentions to ride "at the forthcoming 35-day meeting are Ray Williams, Robert Mundorf, Russell Gaudreau, Boyd Morris, Leroy Cargile, Gene Pederson, Merrill Faulkner, Gene Garcia, William Collier and Jim Bidwell. Williams and Mundorf vied for leading riding honors at the Ak-Sar-Ben track last year. Williams gained enough points in the final race of the season to win the coveted leading rider trophy given by the association. Collier is another familiar name to local race patrons. He rode in Omaha when he was with the Charlie Brown Stable as an apprentice. Collier was leading rider at Sportsmans Park near Chicago until just recently, when he received a suspension. Pederson and Faulkner are expected to arrive on the scene shortly from Bay Meadows. Pederson will do the riding for J. R. Gregory. The riding colony is expected to increase to about 60 by opening day, May 21.
