Florida-Bred Horses Win Record ,459,781 in 1956 MIAMI, Fla., May 11.— Thanks to Needles and King Harain, Florida-bred horses won a record ,459,781 during 1956, it was announced today by Everett A. Clay, secre-j tary of the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders Association. The winnings were up from j 59,899 for the previous year. Needles was Americas leading money-j winner in 1956 with 40,850. annexing the I Kentucky Derby, Belmont Stakes, Fla-I mingo Stakes and Florida Derby. King i Harain won eight major stakes and 91,-575. The third largest winner from Florida was Delamar with 8,300, followed by Ocli-,1-ock, 4,300; Marked Game 6,465, and . Sam Brook, 0,140. All were bred in Marion County, near Ocala. W. E. Leach was the breeder of both I . Needles and King Harain. Carl G. Rose was I the breeder of Oclirock, Marked Game and I Sam Brook. Harry Trotsek was the breeder of Delamar.
