GOLD GIN gradually moved into closer contention after settling into the backstretch, moved strongly leaving the far turn and despite being forced wide into the stretch, was along in plenty of time. ISTERRIFIC rallied strongly befcre three-quarters, gained command in the stretch between calls, then could not handle the winner. BEWITCHING saved ground, moved into the lead going to the far turn, then was no match for the top pair in the final run. F. 0 BEE gave ground in the drive. BRIAR CREEK stopped to a walk. HI-ROCK saved ground throughout and rallied to prove best of the* others. SCARLET IBIS dropped back after entering the backstretch. then came on in the drive while lacking a serious rally. MALLEABLE held a forward position after losing command and, in a stiff drive, proved best. LONG TOM rushed up along the inside to gain command before a half mile and, saving ground throughout, held on with good courage. DARBY DAN came from between horses in the drive and finished with good speed. MATTAFOR between horses almost from the start and weakened only slightly in the drive. NIRGAL PRINCE, roused early to keep a contending position, was put to strong pressure leaving the far turn, drew off into a comfortable lead and was kept to pressure to the finish. EARLY HOURS was put in close quarters when DU DELIGHT rushed up inside of her and, coming to the outside for the final run, could not menace the winner. DU DELIGHT ran into tight quarters going to the far turn when in good stride, had to be taken up, then had no serious rally thereafter. BELLEEK weakened. The latter, far back early, reached his best stride leaving the far turn and t closed with. a belated burst of speed. DAY OLDER could not seriously threaten with his late bid. WALPA - weakened under pressure after being forwardly placed. FLASHY VIC retired gradually after a half mile. BATTLE CAMP made an unsuccessful bid to reach the leader going to the far turn and then gave ground to that one thereafter. WABASH MOON was along in the late yards to wear down OPEN AND SHUT. The latter, not too far back early, had no response when put to pressure. NOBLE WHILLY rushed into contention along the inside going to the far turn and then weakened in the drive. SWITCH ON held a forward position while on the outside, moved closer to the leader going to the far turn, then, assuming command into the stretch, was put to strong punishment and was slowly edging away at the finish. DOUBLE BID quickly set up a clear lead, held on well when challenged by the winner until midstretch where he slowly gave ground. MOTOR LINE, well placed along the inside, moved into close quarters going to the far turn where he had to take back, losing ground to the top pair, then, remaining along the inside, attempted to rally into the stretch when finding room but lacked a response in the final eighth. Jockey Gibb claimed foul against the winner which was disallowed. PARK DANDY was outdistanced throughout. Overweight— Double Bid, 2 pounds. EIGHTH RACE 7 FURLONGS. RODMAN, in nearest pursuit to the leader, moved strongly midway on the final turn, ducked in in midstretch when clear and drew off in the final sixteenth under pressure. FLARESPUR found clear racing room along the inside while moving into close contention but lacked the necessary response in the drive. BOKEER raced evenly in the final run. TOP-LATION, hard urged to make the early lead, drew off in the first quarter and was weakening when the winner ducked in front of him. GREG retired early. LADY LIZ had to take out of close quarters shortly after the start. MY FRIEND failed to enter contention. PECKS REWARD HIT THE OUTSIDE FENCE WHEN LEAVING THE PADDOCK LANE, INJURING HIMSELF.
