British Juvenile Filly Sixpence Will Be Raced at Las Vegas LAS VEGAS, Nev., Aug. 21. The great British filly, Sixpence, owned by A. L. Hawkins of Ireland, will be flown to the United States and raced at the new Las Vegas Jockey Club track which opens September 4 for a four-month stand. Announcement of Sixpences visit to America was made by Lou Smith, president of the Nevada race track. Smith said that Leonard Stone, American representative for owner Hawkins, had informed him of the Sixpence invasion of America. Paddy Prendergast, famed Irish trainer, will accompany Sixpence to this country. The horse is regarded by many as the finest two-year-old filly in the British Isles. The Las Vegas track is now open and -horses are .beginning to ship in here from various points. The racing plant is practically complete and this week end 80 or more horsemen are being flown here to inspect the facilities and be present at the open house ceremonies.
