OLD SALT, forwardly placed from the beginning, went to the front before going a half mile and gradually increased his advantage thereafter under a mild hand ride. APPLIANCE was rushed into closer contention entering the stretch, but tired as a result of his early efforts. PARTNERS-ALL raced evenly through the final furlong without apparent mishap. SHOEMAKER was taken back immediately after the start, then was forced to take the complete overland route when making his belated bid. STAR ALPHA began sluggishly. VAIN VIXEN lacked speed. FILET quit. DARK HORSE never was dangerous. EIGHTH RACE 7 FURLONGS out of chute. Sport Page, Aug. 25, 19501:23-4115. Purse ,000. 0 Q Q r 3-year-olds. Claiming. Weight, 122 lbs. OFF AT 6:11 EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME. Start good from stall gate. Won driving; second and third the same. WOODYS BOOTS was taken back from the pace during the run down the backstretch, forged to the front during the stretch run and had enough left to hold BELLE WOODVALE safe. The latter, far back early, slipped through next the inside rail entering the stretch and steadily was wearing down the top one. ANUKITA closed with good energy in a sharp effort. GOLDEN FIDDLE came to the complete outside to take command nearing the furlong marker, but faltered when punished. TUSCANIA saved ground to no avail. CORRECT quit as did LOWMOND.
