IVON D. PARKER Ivon D. Parker Succumbs While Astride His Horse Southern California Breeder Was Former Owner of Racing Stable SANTA BARBARA, Calif., Aug. 21. Ivon D. Parker, well known Southern California breeder and former owner of a racing stable, died of a heart attack here Thursday while participating in the Santa Barbara Fiesta parade as a member of the Los Angeles Sheriffs mounted posse. Mr. Parker, a retired tax accountant of Los Angeles, was 72 years old, having celebrated his natal day only the previous day. The deceased, long a member of the sheriffs mounted posse, was stricken during the parade and rushed to a local hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival. For many years, Mr. Parker was associated in business with, his brother, Claude I. "Parker, who passed away last year. In 1940 he was appointed special administrator of the estate of Tom Mix and inherited that cowboy actors famous horse, Tony. He retired from active business in 1946 but continued for some time after his interest and activities in thoroughbred breeding and racing. Mr. Parker was a native of Carmel, 111., and came to California more than 56 years ago, beginning his business career here as. a telephone lineman. Always an enthusiast for horses, he also rode yearly with Los Rancheros Visitadores and was a member of Al Malaikah Shrine Temple. He made his home in Pacoima and several of his horses were named after that community. He leaves his widow, Mrs. Evelyn Parker, five nephews and two nieces. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
