Evening Out Keeps Her Record Spotless With Spinaway Romp i Leads Alines Pet Home by t Eight Lengths in Bet I ess Exhibition at Saratoga SARATOGA, Saratoga Springs, N. Y. Aug. 21. Mrs. George D. Wideners Evening Out kept her record spotless as she merely breezed to Col. E. P. Bixers Alines Pet in the betless 62nd running of the Spinaway Stakes today. Ovie Scurlock sent the handsome brown daughter of Shut Out Evening Belle, by Eight Thirty, to the front at the start of the "exhibition," but he didnt have to send her after that as she rolled along "on the bit," displaying her extremely fluid action. Alines Pet, who was a "complimentary" entry to prevent this Spinaway from becoming a walk-over,, had few credentials, though she had finished second in her debut at Jamaica, then won a maiden race in slow time at Monmouth. The daughter of Jet Pilot did her best to make a race of it after hesitating slightly at the start and stayed fairly close to Evening Out to the upper stretch, where the brown hiss left her without effort. Hedley Woodhouse gave it the old college try on Alines Pet, but it wag futile. Effort Worth 1,050 Evening Out added 1,050 to her earnings, giving her a total of 9,915 with four victories all stakes, in as many starts. Her previous ventures had heen in the Fashion and filly division of the National Stallion at Belmont Park, and in the Schuylerville i here at the Spa. Lack of opposition today was in part due to Evening Outs manifest; superiority, but more because of the coughing sickness that has attacked almost three-quarters of the juveniles on the grounds. Alines Pet received ,000-for being second, and must be credited with having earned it, or, at least, worked for it. The crowd of 12,458 watched Evening Outs performance in complete silence, but an estimated 37 patrons applauded the filly as she returned to the dinners circle. The six furlongs required 1:13, but Evening Out could obviously have bettered that time with ease. Allison Sterns War Rhodes scored a convincing victory in the Lovely Night Hurdle Handicap that preceded the Spinaway, taking command when Charley Harr gave him his head in the backstretch the second time around and standing a long drive gamely. Lawrence R. Troianos King Commander, the favorite, finished three and a half lengths back of the topweight, crossing the : line with part of the 10th and last hedge ; dangling from his mouth. It was another two and a half lengths back to Mrs. Arthur Whites Battle Wave, while Troianos Williamsburg was a similar margin out of the money. James F. McHughs River Jordan, who had considerable support, was almost as rank during the running as the owners Sundown and Jam were in stakes earlier at the meet. Col. E. P. Bixer, who sent Alines Pet out against Evening Out in the Spinaway, won the first race with Glinka, who held on to beat Col. Isidore Biebers Yashmak a diminishing nose in the first race. Glinka paid .60 and combined with Greentree Stables Lost Weekend for a 8.60 Daily Double. Charley OBrien and Bennie Green rode Glinka and Lost Weekend, respectively.
