ROYAL COYNESS, a sharp factor from the start, came fast when shaken for the stretch run and was along in the final stride to cutgame RAIN DEAR S. The latter sprinted into a clear early lead, held sway to the stretch under steady rating and, though tiring slightly during the late stages, held on tenaciously just missing. IMP IN ROMPERS raced evenly through the stretch without mishap. SAFLO, sluggish to begin, lacked the necessary rally. NATURAL MAN failed to attain the lead and tired. DASH FOR CASH was unable to improve his position when hustled through the. late stages. BROWN DALTON-had no apparent excuse. UNREST was always outrun. MAILING LIST was permitted to settle into best stride, steadily improved his position to take command when ready after completing the seventh hurdle and held a clear lead thereafter when subjected to intermittent pressure. FLAW moved up menacingly on the far turn, but was unable to seriously endanger the winner when punished. PROCEED failed to sufficiently respond when called upon for his best effort. ESCARP quit. REWING was outrun. WUNDERPRINZ went lame during the running. RED MARTLET was extremely rank during the early running, then was not unduly persevered with when hopelessly beaten. MURPHS DEB steadily improved her position on the outside to gain a contending position entering the stretch and continuing in the middle of the track wore down PETSIE in the concluding strides. The latter raced FIRE KING into defeat to retain a slight lead at the furlong marker, drifted out while tiring during the drive and was unable to hold the winner. SILURIAN came to the inside for the drive, but was not good enough. DEEP DIVER rallied too late to become ! an endangering factor. FIRE KING was unable to keep up. POST PRANDIAL -quit. HILARIOUS, never far back, reached near even terms with TEA-MAKER when set down for the stretch run and, in a long drive, outgamed the latter. TEA-MAKER forged to the front at the furlong marker, shortened stride when punished and was unable to .hold the top one. SANDTOP saved ground while racing close to the early leaders, but lacked the necessary rally. JET MASTER, much used early, had little left when the real test came. COLD COMMAND raced evenly. TIMELY REWARD, never dangerous during the running, worked out a mile in 1:42. RAES REWARD never threatened. WAR POPPY went into the air at the start and lost all chance. PUTNEY, well ridden, slipped through next to the inner rail to reach near even terms with the leaders at the furlong marker, forged to the front midway the stretch run, then gamely lasted to outfinish SHAMROCK. The latter came to the complete outside for the drive and closed with good energy. BLAZE bumped with GUARDIAN II. during the stretch run, then continued to tire when placed to brisk urging. BLUE DANDY, unhurried when outrun early, came out to the middle of the track for the stretch run and after taking command during the concluding strides won going away. LA CRIMA held a commanding advantage entering the stretch, faltered when challenged, but held on willingly to easily prevail over the others.
