SIR LIONEL raced in the first flight from the start, wore down APACHE LADY in the early stretch and then drew clear under mild urging. SQUIRE K. gradually improved his position while in the middle of the .track, but could not make up any ground on the winner. PARK PIGEON tired in the final drive after racing prominently throughout. GLEAMING GOLD raced evenly for the most part. WENDYS RAIDER finished up well while between horses. JIMINY CRICKET was never a contender. DEBDEB weakened. BILL ROSS showed nothing. RED SHIRT was allowed to settle into best stride, moved up between horses on the turns and outgamed PENSIVE ONE inside the sixteenth marker. The latter wrested command while saving ground on the final turn and held on well through the stretch. OVER AGAIN raced evenly most of the trip. IMPERIAL PIE closed some ground in the latter stages. BUSY DAN gained the lead at once, saved ground on the turns while drawing clear, tired through the late strtch and just managed to hold BROSE while being fully extended. The latter, slow to gain best stride, finished up very fast while on the outside and just missed. RECHECKED held on well through the stretch run. STIR AROUND faltered in the late stretch. FINE FLAVOR made her bid racing to the far turn, then flattened out. VIOLA RUTH was never a factor. A REWARD showed nothing. TRANSBULL was through early. MONA LOU forwardly placed along the inside, assumed command before entering the stretch, drew clear, responded to stout pressure and had enough left to hold FLARETOWN safe. The latter improved her position steadily, came outside to engage the leader in the late stages but was not good enough. PRESS K., in between horses while in front after a quarter mile, was no match for the winner as they straightened for the drive, but held on gamely. MADAME DEFARGE closed ground from a slow beginning. MOON FLEET went evenly. OLD RELIABLE was unable to keep up. CALPHEA failed to respond to steady urging. LADY CHEER was shuffled back early. KING FOR ALL worked his way up on the outside and rallied mildly in the stretch. SPRING LARK, quickest to begin, was unable to stay with the leader, dropped back after a half mile and went evenly in the stretch. RED MOUNTAIN had no mishap. FUENTE, taken up leaving the chute as horses fell, was never a serious factor. PATCHEEN showed nothing. POPADARIS stumbled leaving the barrier and fell. HERON LAKE, reserved within striking distance of the pace down the backstretch, moved on the outside entering the stretch, responded to steady pressure and was along in the final yards to outfinish TWIG LEE. The latter went to the front early, was placed under steadying restraint until the final quarter mile, regained the lead when ready, drew clear and just missed. SHINY PETER, in hand while settling into best stride, came through along the inside with a late rush. PACOY had no mishap. TALL TREE broke alertly, was placed under stout restraint to give up command, regained the lead and was steadied losing the lead again and failed to respond when put to late pressure. BOUQUET BILLY, steadied close -to the pace, came between horses with a late rush, but was unable to menace. AIR ROCKET moved to engage the leaders along the inside and faltered. PACIFIC BOUND, taken back off the pace and steadied until the final quarter mile, closed resolutely on the outside. WHITSUNTIDE was in close quarters near the end. INDIVIDUATE retired after a mile.
