Dade Park Cards First All-Claiming Race Menu Pickens Jr. Ireland, Teapoy to Meet in Rockport Journal Purse By J. J. HAHN Staff Correspondeiit DADE PARK, Henderson, Ky., Aug. 24. The Rockport Journal, a six furlongs dash for three-year-olds and upward, features the seven race all-claiming program here Tuesday afternoon. It is the first time this season that racing secretary L. H. Van Zandt is offering an all-claiming racing menu and one of the few in which he failed to program a two-year-old race. Several times during the session the card had at least one event which was tagged "non-claiming." Seven just under the allowance grade are entered in the headliner. which will be used as the fourth race. It includes Coin Gal, Pickens, Jr. Ireland, Boutonniere, Teapoy, Dr. Jay and Come Early. The last named pair are the only winners at this meeting. Under conditions of the race Pickens and Jr. Ireland are to pack top weight of 115 pounds. Pickens, who failed to come up to expectations the first time out, came back off that race to finish a bang-up second to Newspaper in the Rockport Purse, which was contested over the mile distance, while J. Ireland was fourth in the Dade Park Handicap last Saturday, his best race during the current meeting. Teapoy, a member of the James C. Ellis establishment, will be trying to make good for the first time this season. The once fast runner has not been breaking too well but should he make up his mind to leave the starting gate whenJEteuben White pulls the switch the Ellis colorbearer could make it interesting for his competition. Next in weight assignment is Dr. Jay, at 111. This hard-knocking plater is being moved up and while he is a noted gamester, may spring a surprise. He showed his fitness last week in winning by a short margin from Milli Victor. Coin Gal, who may be made the public choice, gets in at 110. Her last outing was in the Sterling Purse and she gave Platter Scout a terrific battle in losing the decision, weakening the last few strides after forcing all the pace. Come Early won a cheap race at one mile and came back several days ago to finish second to Evenesta in another miler. The impost on this campaigner is 109, three more than the lightly-weighted Boutonniere. The latter has been running with horses of higher calibre, but has failed to come up with a victory. In fact, Boutonniere contested last Saturday in the featured Dade Park Handicap but ran wide all the way. Despite the loss of ground Boutonniere was beaten about nine lengths. The first three events are at six furlongs while the fifth is at one mile, the sixth over the one mile and 40 yards distance and the nightcap at one mile and one-eighth. The sprints drew capacity fields while those of the routers are much smaller.
