j Raise Minimum Purses At Lincoln to 00 Mutuel Play Registers 21 Pet. Gain; Whatcetera Starts Today By DEAN WILLIAMS Staff Correspondent LINCOLN, Nebr., Aug. 24. The 21 percent handle increase which this track has realized for the first two weeks has resulted in raising the minimum purse offering to 00. The features have also been increased, which will give handicap performers some very lucrative purses for which to run. The final two days feature the five-furlong Ak-Sar-Ben Handicap for a ,200 purse, and the final day offering will be the mile and 70 yards Hotel Cornhusker Handicap for ,400. Tuesdays main event will see Whatcetera meet a field of seven which will include Bobette, 112; Miss Campbell, 110; Bossle-mette, 113; Camstar, 12; Able Sirte, 112; Vay, 108; Mor Inshoots, 105; and Star Spot, 114. The race is sure to be a good affair as Star Spot and Whatcetera meet once again. Whatcetera and Star Spot have met on only one occasion with Star Spot gaining a head decision. In that handicap, Whatcetera carried 123 pounds, while the Barker . mare carried 116 pounds. Thus he concedes her seven actual pounds. In Tuesdays feature the Allen runner will concede eight pounds to her. In the Hotel Capital Handi-i cap, Whatcetera vied for the lead from the start with Teal, then was still racing strongly at the wire under his high weight impost. Star Spot was moving the best of all in the final furlong as she got up to win in a three-horse photo finish. Whatcetera has given his best performances under the handling of Jose Provencio, but apprentice Provencio chose to ride Star Spot in this attractive event. The loss of his regular reins-man may be the difference which will cost him the winning laurels. The race includes seven winners at this meeting besides the two already mentioned. Bobette, Miss Campbell, Bosslemette, Cam-star, Vay and Mor Inshoots have also reached the winners circle. The three-year-old, filly, Mor Inshoots, owned by Phil Raasch and the Dogaway filly, Bobette, have both won on two occasions.
