Illinois Stall Preference ! Bill Sent to Governor Amendment Exempts CookCounty Race Tracks From Its Provisions SPRINGFIELD, HI., June 29. The Senate today passed and sent to Gov. William Stratton a bill designed" to give preference to Illinois owners in the allotment of stalls at the states tracks. However, an amend-metn offered by Sen. Arthur Bidwill R.-River Forest exempted Cook County the site of all Chicago area tracks except Lincoln Fields from the bills provisions. It had passed the House previously. The measusre gives preference in the assignment of stalls to horses of Illinois owners racing in claiming events up to ,000 valuation. It stated that the licensee Ctherace track shall give prefer-ance to such horses when the horses racing record meets the minimum purse requirement established by the track. The vote was 27 to 13, with 26 neves"-sary for passage.
