PORT WINDSOR, a sharp factor from the start, moved up with a rush on the outside to take command when ready on the final turn and continued on gamely through the stretch under stern punishment. STEVIES PAL, reserved back of the early leaders, moved up boldly between horses to attain closer contention nearing the furlong marker, but was unable to overtake the winner when hard ridden through the late stages. LEONGS, unhurried when outrun to the final turn, came fast when shaken for the drive and gradually was wearing down the top ones. TIPPETYWITCH assumed a clear lead during the run down the backstretch, gave way to the winner on the final turn, then continued to tire when placed to brisk urging during the stretch run. MERMAN began sluggishly and never was dangerous. STRUTTING HIGH moved up menacingly leaving the near turn, but weakened when the real test came. FRIPPERTY had no apparent mishap. FOXOLATER failed to stay. Scratched 51629 Repose, 112 Overweight Leongs, 1 pound; Merman, 2 Attendance, 16,366; Total Mutuel Pool, ,469,051.
