CRIMSON DUST raced nearest FOREMAN SAM to the stretch, swerved to the inside after taking command, then held on determinedly to retain a short advantage to the finish. FOREMAN SAM began fast, set the pace to the stretch under steady rating, suffered mild interference when CRIMSON DUST went to the inside during the drive, but could not stay with the latter, although easily best of the others. CHALLENGE WITT, in hand to the last quarter mile, was unable to threaten the top pair when set down in the drive. NORMANS WEED tired during the stretch run. HURLER could not keep up. ETERNAL AMBER lacked early speed and raced wide through the stretch. DUSKY DOLL tired. BISMARCK showed nothing. GRAVEL BIN was far back throughout DOUBLE SO quit. GAMBELLA began sluggishly. ABACUS gradually worked way forward to the stretch, drifted out near the three-sixteenths mile pole and forced THE SPY wide, then disposed of BURGOO PLAY and drew clear under mild urging. BONA ETERNAL, a keen factor from the start, suffered mild interference after entering the stretch, closed determinedly when clear but could not seriously threaten the winner. A fouj claim against ABACUS by BONA ETERNALS rider was not allowed by the stewards. SIR FAY, between horses and in close quarters to the stretch, finished strongly when set down in the drive. SPEEDY VAN raced with BURGOO PLAY until inside the stretch, then faltered. FIGHTING MOORE had a rough race. THE SPY moved up boldly approaching the stretch, was forced to the outside when ABACUS bore out and failed to recover. SOUTH GATE began sluggishly. PATS VALENTINE raced wide. PRY PAT showed nothing. BURGOO PLAY went to the front early, set the pace to the last eighth, then weakened whenhallenged by ABACUS. HAVENESS, well placed from the start, responded to strong handling during the drive and, taking command from KENTUCKIAN, held RAY N JAY safe. RAY N JAY gradually worked way forward to the stretch, drifted to the middle of the track for the drive and closed strongly but could not reach the top one. KENTUCKIAN began fast, made the pace to the last eighth, then faltered when challenged by HAVENESS. YEONI raced evenly but wide FRALUXE was never dangerous. LADDIES SIS had no mishap. BRAMBLE SUN, in hand while racing within striking distance of the leaders to the stretch, responded to strong -handling during the drive and, disposing of STAR-BOROUGH, won going away. The latter, in hand early, moved up fast approaching the stretch and settled for the drive with a short lead but could not hold the winner, although much the best of the others. LIABILITY lacked early foot and could not get to the top pair when hard urged through the stretch. ATTENTIVE raced well to the stretch but had nothing left for the drive. LOVE BUG lacked early foot and was never dangerous. DR. jALEX could not keep up. GEOFFREY G. showed nothino. FOREVER HI had early foot but failed to stay.
