SHIELDS Staff Correspondent BEULAH PARK, Grove City, Ohio, May 8. — Racing returns to the Central Ohio sector with the opening of this spacious mile oval Saturday for a spring session of 19 days. .Racing secretary Charles W. Smith has arranged an excellent program of nine races which will be spotlighted by the ,000 Inaugural Purse at 6 furlongs. Scheduled as the eighth event the Inaugural has drawn a field of nine three-year-olds and older horses, and should result in a thrilling contest with a field of such good ones as E. L. Cannons Mambo Dancer, R. Snedegars Amber Tide, Hill-crest Farms Flying Wave, R. Stewarts Noorahge, Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Tripletts Rare Vintage, J. Nashlunds Banana Split, A. M. Holmans Fabucon, W. B. Alexanders Just Sarah and A. B. Corbins Mr. J. T. - Just Sarah, no stranger to these parts, will likely rule the choice. A four-year-old Model Cadet — In the Air filly, she has been unraced thus far in the new season but comes up to this effort with a record of having achieved four victories h her campaign last year. In the event owner-trainer W. B. Alexander has her anywhere ► near her usual good form she will be a hard one to beat. Rare Vintage is seen as the one who will % furnish the strongest contention. A recent arrival from Cahokia Downs where : he competed against the best at that track and while the six-year-old Maeda — Devastating gelding was not wholly successful he was a rugged contender. The Triplett standard-bearer showed evidence of being in need -of a race or two during his short stay at the Southern Illinois course. He proved useful, however, in his 58 campaign by being returned the victor in three of his starts. Flying Wave is also expected to assert herself to the utmost. A sprightly three-year-old daughter of Air Sailor — Mamie C, she raced to advantage as a juvenile, winning four of her engagements including two allowance affairsr one of which came at Keenelands fall season. Noorahge is quite capable, of taking all of it if he is anywhere near right. This six-year-old altered son of Noor— Desert Mirage revels in fast going and, at this writing, the prospects are bright for clear, and sunny weather for the opening-day program. Of the others, Alan Holmans Fabucon, a late arrival from Ascot Park, holds a good chance of showing on the board.
