Strong Field of Eleven Three-Year-Olds Goes in Hollywoods Debonair Stakes O/e Fols, Lin mold, Bagdad * And Pryson Main Entrants In 5,000 Sprint Event By Staff Correspondent HOLLYWOOD PARK, Inglewood, Calif., May 8. — Although Californias three Derby mounts have not fully recovered .from their efforts at Louisville a week ago to join the field, a strong band of 11 three-year-olds will go postward here tomorrow in the first of eight stakes scheduled for sophomores, the 5,000 added Debonair Stakes. The eighth running of the 6 furlongs test has drawn a power-packed line-up which includes the stakes winners Ole Fols, Lin-mold, Bagdad and Pryson and it may be that Derby champs, Toiny Lee Kentucky , Silver Spoon Santa Anita, and Finnegan California, will be glad they are sitting this one out. Both Tomy Lee and Finnegan were beaten by starters in tomorrows main attraction. Tomy Lee suffered his first California setback at Santa Anita when Ole Fols whipped him in the San Vicente Stakes and Finnegan was nowhere to be found when Linmold won the California Breeders Champion Stakes later in the Arcadia season. "In addition to Pryson, Fred Hoopers Florida-bred .stakes winner, who will make his western debut, and Howard Keeks Bagdad, the line-up includes Aztec Stables Scorpions Thumb, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Camps Civic Pride, R. S. Lytles American Comet, Mervyn LeRoys Charging Beau, Helbush Farms Friar Roach, Dosoris Stables Kingdom and H. H. Mundys Djebah. Ole Fols and Friar Roach are two of three horses which own a piece of the Santa Anita 6 furlongs record of 1:08%. The former, who followed his record-breaking effort with his conquest of Tomy Lee, was then cast in the role as one of the Santa Anita Derby favorites. However, his victory skein of five in a row was broken in a later effort and he also turned in a dull performance in his lone Tanforan outing. However, trainer Bill Finnegan feels the Neil McCarthy star has recovered from the foot trouble. Linmold notched his greatest triumph in gaining a nose decision over Fightin Indian in the Breeders Championship. However, he later cast himself in his stall and was not at his best for his Santa Anita Derby race. He, too, has been training strongly for his summer bow. Pryson turned in some fine performances early last year at Hialeah and although failing to earn bracelets in stakes competition since then, he did trim the likes of On-and-On and Dunce in races this winter in Florida.
