Beck Has Five Winners Out of Six Engagements Leading Cahokia Rider Increases Total Tallies for Meeting to 18 CAHOKJA DOWNS, East St. Louis, HI., May 8. — Clinton Wayne Beck, was the riding star here at Cahokia Downs Thursday night when he rode five winners out of six mounts. Last year on June 14, Beck registered with four winners out of five mounts. The Cahokia Downs riding record is held by Clarence Meaux who had a perfect "six-for-six" on October 2, 1957. • After sitting out the first race, Beck held the reins on Lewis A. D., winner of the second race, had no mount in the third- but came back in the fourth to win on Deep Dish, copped the fifth on Gilded King, finished out of the money on Oscars Pocket in the sixth, then scored with Cotton Guesser and Northquest, the successful ones in the seventh and eighth races, consecutively and did not accept a mount in the ninth. Beck is now far in front of his rivals, bringing his total for the first eight rlights of the meeting to 18, three times as many as L. J?Colclasure, the runner-up.
