BIG SQUEEZE, outside horses while forwardly placed early, secured the lead on the turn, disposed of BELFASTER in midstretch and drew off. The latter rallied to reach almost even terms in the drive and faltered. SURE PROOF stumbled at the start, was rushed into contention and finished willingly. LORD JAN flashed early speed, faltered on the turn, then rallied again mildly in thelate stages. FLARESPUR and FONDNESS were never serious contenders. PEBBLE ACE was through early. BONZO, unhurried when outrun early", was steered to the outside while rallying, came in slightly while passing the leaders in midstretch and was ridden out while increasing his margin. REVOLUTIONIST was sent to the front from the outside racing to the stretch, dueled briefly with BONZO and weakened slightly. MENGER set the early pace, went slightly wide leaving the backstretch and faltered when headed. COLOMBO could not threaten. FAST MONEY .got through on the inside lodging his bid leaving the backstretch, went head and head for the lead through the turn and flattened out. UNGAVA was never a factor.
