Pop Pop Corn Corn After After Repeat Repeat Dixie Dixie Win; Win; Intentionally Intentionally Tops Tops Delaware Delaware Valley Valley Nine to Oppose Brookfield Colt Rare Rice-Cedar Brook Duo And Carolina Joy Threats in 9,450 Garden State Test By BOB McCURLEY Staff .Correspondent GARDEN STATE PARK, Camden, N. J., May 8. — Brookfield Farms Intentionally, a three-year-old Intent colt, will -seek a return to winning form when he heads a field of 10 sophomores in the fifth renewal of the 6-furlong Delaware Vulley Stakes here Saturday. If all go postward the race will gross 9,450 with the winner receiving 9,142.50, less 50 in nomination and starting fees. Intentionally, hero of the Belmont Futurity in which he handed Christopher Chenerys First Landing his first defeat, and Pimlico Futurity as well as the Tyro Stakes last season, will draw his opposition from Mrs. Ada L. Rices pair of Cedar Brook and Rare Rice, L. P. Guys Pointer, Mary G. Christmas Nasrullah Sweep, T. W. Baker Jr.s Fresh Marble, F. B. Holbrooks Rough Tempo, Argonne Stables Grand Wizard, Cary C. Boshamers Carolina Joy and Resseguet and Weiners Eternal Bim. After blazing to an easy victory in his seasonal debut at Jamaica, Intentionally was upset by Elkcam Stable and Louis Cheslers Atoll in the Gotham. He was second, beaten three-quarters of a length. He disappointed even more in the succeeding Wood Memorial, finishing a soundly beaten fourth behind Emil Dolces surprising Ma-nassa Mauler. The Delaware Valley will be his first venture under colors since the Wood. Sharing top weight of 124 pounds, Intentionally will have the services of three-time riding champion Bill Hartack, and has drawn the important No. 1 post position. Rare Rice Chesapeake Victor Rare Rice, who also carries 124 pounds, captured Laurels Chesapeake Stakes in his last outing and won a division of Tropical Parks Alligator Handicap last fall as a juvenile. The Olympia colt, who drew the extreme outside post position, will have Joe Culmone in the irons. Culmone was aboard in his Chesapeake victory. Cedar Brook displayed a liking for the local running strip when he scampered to a two and one-half lengths victory on the opening day card last week end. The good-looking black colt, like his running mate, is by Olympia and will have Howard Grant up in the Delaware Valley. He will carry 121 pounds. Carolina Joy, a quick son of the excellent sire Johns Joy, was second to Cedar Brook here and appeared to be a bit short. The brown colt captured the inaugural running of Bowies George Washington Stakes this spring. He, carries 121 pounds and will have George Hettinger in the saddle. Nasrullah Sweep has all the qualifications to rate as the dark horse of the field. The Spectrum H. gelding has been lightly campaigned this term, having started only three times. However, in his last start, which was at Jamaica, he spoiled the seasonal debut of the Charfran Stables Crafty Skipper by turning that worthy back by two and one-half lengths at the end of 6 furlongs. Last season he campaigned extensively on the West Coast and showed some good races behind the likes of Fred Turner Jr.s Kentucky Derby winner, Tomy Lee, and other topnotch California thoroughbreds. He carries 121 pounds tomorrow and no rider was named at the time of entry. Grand Wizard and Eternal Bim, both of whom have been asked to carry 121 pounds also, finished second and third, respectively, in an overnight race at Suffolk Downs in their last starts. Fresh Marble, Pointer and Rough Tempo are the lightweights of the field with 115 pounds apiece. None have been particularly impressive thus far this year, although Fresh Marble has scored three victories in seven starts. All, however, were in company vastly inferior to those they will be meeting in the Delaware Valley. /
