Brings Patrons to Entrance of Track; Network Virtually to Link Homewood, Arlington The construction of the tollway and expressway road system has put thoroughbred racing at Washington Park, where Balmoral opens its spring meeting on May 18, in the backyard of almost every fan in Chicagdland, making a day at the races as easy as stepping in and out % of their automobiles. The worry-free Tri-State Tollway, joined along the way by the Northwest and East-West Tollways, plus the Calumet Expressway and the new Kingery Expressway, will bring fans directly to the Halsted Street entrance atWashington Park after a, quick tension-free ride. To honor the new tollway link to Washington Park, Balmoral President Hubert E. Howard has scheduled the Tri-State Stakes for three-year-olds on opening day May 18. Fans in outlying northern and northwestern areas who might normally await the opening of the Arlington phase of the three-way coordinated meeting, which this year starts on July 6, can now enjoy racing at Washington Park with minimum effort and strain. The new tollway network will virtually connect Chicagos two major race courses, Arlington Park and Washington Park. Thanks to the Tri-State Tollway, Washington Park has been made readily accessible to three distinct areas, including the Entire area serviced by the Tri-State itself, from the Wisconsin line to Indiana. The Northwest Tollway from as far removed as Beloit, Wis., and the East-West Tollway, bringing fans from an area surrounding Aurora, both connect directly with the Tri-State — and all roads lead directly to Washington Park. Freeways to Washington Park also have been expanded and extended. North Side and Loop motorists now can take the Outer Drive South to Stoney Island avenue and drive straight through onto Calumet Expressway, to the Kingery Expressway, then west direct to the Halsted Street entrance. It will be non-stop from 115th Street direct to the track. The Kingery freeway also runs non-stop from Indiana on the east to the Halsted street gate. Southbound motorists can enter the Tri-State from the following points: U. S. 41 Edens Expressway, Illinois Highway 173 Rosecrans Rd. ; 111. 132 Grand Avenue ; 111. 120 Belvidere Rd.; 111. 137 Buckley Rd.; 111. 176 Rockland Rd.; 111. 59 A Townline Rd.; 111. 22 Half day Rd.; Deerfield Rd; U. S. 12-14 Dempster St.; Touhy Avenue; Northwest Tollway; Congress Expressway; Alt. U. S. 30; Roosevelt Road; East-West Tollway; TJ. S. 34 Ogden Ave. ; Wolf Road at 71st St. Eastbound motorists journeying on the Northwest Tollway can enter the Tri-State at the following points: Rockton Rd., at U. S. 51; U. S. 20 at Rockford; Genoa Rd., Belvidere; TJ. S. 20, Marengo; 111. 31, Elgin West; 111. 25 Elgin East; Barrington Road; . 111. 53, Rohlwing Road; Elmhurst Road; Lee St. Motorists taking the East-West Tollway may connect onto the Tri-State from: U. S. 30; Illinois 31; Aurora West; Farns-worth Ave., Aurora East; Illinois 59; Na-perville Road; 111. 53; Highland Ave., and Illinois 83.
