Fail-mount Opening Changed to July 24 Meeting of 60 Days Ends On Oct. 17; Balmorals Officials Are Approved A routine meeting of the Illinois Racing Board was conducted at its loop offices Friday morning, and the most important action found the racing dates being revised for Fairmount Park meeting, in Southern Illinois. The matter was not listed on the official agenda, but Ray Ben-nigsen, general manager representing Fairmount Park, was allowed to make the request and it was ratified immediately. Under .the revised dates, Fairmount Park will open on Friday, July 24 instead of Tuesday, July 21, as originally announced. Bennigsens reasoning for the change was that the greater gap in racing dates will give turfites in the area something of a breather, along with the horses, and that it will give the stable more time to switch from one track to the other. Discuss Uniformity of Rules Under the new order, the closing day will be Saturday, October 17, instead of Saturday, October 10. There will be the same 60 days of racing as originally allotted. Other matters discussed was the national uniformity of racing rules, the approval of racing officials for the Balmoral and Arlington Park meeting, and setting a date for hearings in the Jean OBrien Brennan stimulation case at Cohokia Downs, which will be next Friday at 3 p. m. at the East St. Louis track. Following are the Balmoral and Arlington Park racing officials: Stewards — Ralph W. Choisser, representing Illinois Racing Board; Aidan Roark, Charles J. Gormley Jr. Racing secretary — Charles J. McLennan. Assistant racing secretary — Thomas E. Trotter. Associate steward and patrol judge — Teague Pichon. Paddock steward and patrol judge — Bennett I. Parke. Patrol Judge — Kenneth Scawthorn.
