Elect Janney President Of Maryland Breeders Jay and Stryker Fill Other Posts; Directors Also Named PIMLICO, Baltimore, Maryland, May 8. — Stuart S. Janney Jr., former chairman of the Maryland Racing Commission, last night was elected president of the Maryland Horse Breeders Association at the anuual meeting held in the Pimlico clubhouse. Janney succeeds John P. Pons, who was not a candidate for re-election. Peter Jay was elected to the post of vice-president and Major Goss L. Stryker continues as secretary-treasurer, a post he has held for many years. Elected to the board of directors- were Harry Love, while those re-elected were Walter J. Appel, Frank A. Bonsai, Daniel Brewster Jr., J. Yancey Christmas, Alan T. Clarke, Janon Fisher Jr., Stuart S. Janney Jr., Peter Jay, Rigan McKinney, Samuel M. Pistorio, John P. Pons, Danny Shea, Major Stryker and Alfred. G. Vanderbilt. Prior to the election of officers, the breeders group held a dinner and open meeting which was attended by approximately 150 members and guests, as well as members of the press. In the absence of president Pons, Janney presided in his capacity as vice-president. Reports were heard from officers of the group and by Walter J. Appel, chairman of the show committee and Janon Fisher Jr., chairman of the sales committtee. - Guest speaker during this period was D. Eldred Rinehart,- chairman of the Maryland Racing Commission, whose term expires shortly. Rineharts talk was largely relative to the "Ripper" bill recently signed by Gov. J. Millard Tawes, which calls for the commission membership to be increased to five men. Following Rineharts speech there was considerable discussion from the floor relative to the bill.
