A. LINDEMAN Staff Correspondent SPORTSMANS PARK, Cicero, 111., May 8. — William Hal Bishops entry of Petes Folly and On the Job looms as the probable favorite combination in the field of 10 named for the 5,000 Thomas D. Nash Memorial here Saturday. Petes Folly, much the stronger of the pair, has been assigned the top impost of 122 pounds in the 1 1-16 miles event, just one pound over that given "Mrs. Emil Denemarks Race-tracker. Petes Folly, who is making his first start this year over the Sportsmans Park course, comes to the race well heralded off his recent successful Maryland campaign. The six-year-old altered son of Piet — Spring Folly, by Challedon, made his last appearance at Laurel where he finished third to Piano Jim and Air Pilot, beaten by just a little over four and a half lengths, in the Laurel Handicap at 1 1-8 miles. In that race Bishop colorbearer was equally weighted at 116 pounds with Air Pilot, but failed to flash his usual drive in the stretch. Registered in Wilwyn Handicap Prior to his defeat in the Laurel Handicap, Petes Folly was returned the winner of the mile and 70 yards Wilwyn Handicap in a stretch run that carried him to a two and one-quartet length victory over Plion and Air Pilot. The chestnut has already earned 6,729 this year, and out of his 12 starts he has posted three victories. During the entire 1958 season his earnings were 4,895. Should he be able to negotiate the sharper turns that he will encounter here Continued on Page Six : NashMemorial Headlines Sportsmans Park Card Ten Slated to Match Strides In Mile, Sixteenth Test Today Continued from Page One Saturday he will earn an additional ,750. Jockey Harold Keene has been assigned the mount on Petejs Folly. Mrs. Emil Denemarks Racetracker, who scored impressively in his first outing here when he accounted for the Woodview Farm Purse, is rated almost on equal terms with Petes Folly by pacing secretary and handi-annor .Tnhn r rani».i .as he is onlv seD- arating them by a matter of one pound. Although his recent victory over Twilight Run and Cals Choice was only at the 6Vk furlongs distance, Racetracker is no stranger over the longer routes. The six-year-old son of Mr. Trouble and Pet is also familiar with the Sportsmans strip, having posted two victories last fall, defeating Petes Folly by a neck at 1 1-16 miles in one of them. In that race there was four pounds difference, Petes Folly carrying 118 against Racetrackers 114. With but one pound separating these two, the Nash Memorial should prove an interesting contest. Ranking close to Petes Folly and Racetracker is Pan, winner of two out of three starts at the current meeting. Pan, who races in the silks of Nissen and Brock, is in jSaUirdays headliner ,with 118 pounds. The six-year-old son of Alibhai and Den-telle appears to be at home over most any route ranging from 6 furlongs on up to the middle distances. His recent defeat bjand Charlies Song was no disgrace as he was making things very interesting in the final stages of that 6 furlongs test, almost getting up with only a neck separating them crossing the finish line. Pan is a determined stretch-runner and can be counted on to be a factor when the real racing starts. Of the others scheduled to vie in the Nash Memorial, Indian Heir, two-time winner of the current meeting when he accounted for the opening days feature and the Spring Handicap, must also be considered. Indian Heir gets in Saturday with, 118 poundjs, jus one more than he carried in his most recent victory at one mile. Completing the field are Bishops Light, 113, Rickover, 112; Sun King, 111; Roman Artist, 109, and Auctioneer, 108 pounds.
