J., May 6.— The King Ranchs Kamehameha, rated a star prospect as a juvenile, but sidelined after a short campaign of three starts, this afternoon made his third appearance of the current season and impressively rushed between horses to capture the Andalusia Purse by three-quarters of a length. Killian Farms Dark Royal was sorely pressed in the drive to put away Three Ds Stables pacesetting Vidi and offered little resistance at the end, but he remained a similar margin in front of Ridge Stables Khan. Two lengths back in fourth place was E. H. Messmers Charming Way, daylight in front of the faltering Vidi. Kamehameha, a black son of the pres-Continued on Page Forty -Three Kamehameha Shows Fine Form in Camden Victory Takes Measure of Dark Royal in Going-Away Style in Andalusia Continued from Page One ently fashionable Polynesian and out of Sun Lady, was running over a racing strip deep in slop this afternoon, but he improved enough to run the six furlongs in 1:12%, the same time in which he was beaten better than two lengths over a fast course last week. He was made the favorite by the 19,588 in attendance and paid .80. Kamehameha, who derives his tongue-twister name from the first king of Hawaii, is nominated to both the Preakness and the Belmont Stakes, although there is little indication that he is up to that calibre. In his best race last year he finished third behind Mr. Good and Mr. Paradise in the Arlington Futurity. Charles Burr, who had earlier ridden L. G. Robinsons Fair Triad to victory in the fourth race, wisely allowed Kamehameha to settle into his own speed without urging in the early stages, instead of pressing him to reach the pace as proved unsuccessful the other day. When he did ask for increased speed entering the stretch, Kamehameha was willing to put forth, and he wended forwardly between the pace-weary leaders to still be going strong at the finish.
