Light Card Scheduled At Fort Miami Today Track Suffers Adverse Weather Conditions, Decreasing Colony FORT MIAMI, Maumee, Ohio, May 6.— A combination of adverse track conditions and rapidly decreasing horse colony hit this course today with the entire nine-race program being stretched over 68 horses, mostly of the claiming category. A heavy overnight rain, which turned the track into a sticky mess, was the principal cause of the lightness, but with racing in Maumee, Cuyahoga Falls and Grove City scheduled for this week end there are just not enough horses to go around, especially since all managements seem to insist on nine races daily. As it happens, the featured Eagles Purse shapes up as one of the few worthwhile races on the program with the Toledo Eagles honored in the post-race ceremonies at the winners circle. Mrs. J. E. Freshwaters Circulator will meet L. Boyers Heathers View and Mr. and Mrs. Ben Har-rells Mr. Monica at the six-furlong distance and any one of these three can be installed the favorite. They will be amply supported by Times Up, Redisco and Nelliegoby in the six-horse feature. Circulator and Heathers View are coming from a strong mile race in which they l : finished second and third, respectively, beaten by the narrowest of margins. The shorter distance of the Eagles Purse will not hamper their chances. Mr. Monica disappointed as the public choice in his last I outing after an earlier victory. The nine-year-old stallion is certain to like the popular six-furlong distance and a lively three-horse race shapes up. Times Up will be making her first local start after a moderately successful Arkansas campaign and, should the track be further soaked, this miss will move up many lengths for she is a noted "off" track runner.
