Friendly Suggests Acceptance Of Murphy Plan at Hollywood TANFORAN, San Bruno, Calif., May 6.— Ed Friendly, chairman of the HBPAs purse committee, said this afternoon that it will be his recommendation to directors and members of the organization that they accept the 4, 3, 2.7 schedule of purse distribution for the forthcoming Hollywood Park meeting as devised by Dwight Murphy, chairman of the California Horse Racing Board. Friendly said that he is making the recommendation following conferences with others in the HBPA and with chairman Murphy, who, today in a telegram to the Hollywood management, urged its adoption of the purse schedule. The HBPA spokesman said that he and the organizations directors still believe in the 40 per cent they were demanding, but that, in the interest of racings welfare in California, he suggests that horsemen accept the slightly lesser percentage which the Murphy plan embraces.
