Ohio Mutuel Tax Bill May Be Law Within Twenty Days COLUMBUS, Ohio. May 6.— State House observers here are of the opinion that Ohios new racing bill will become a law within 20 days, depending upon whether or not Gov. Prank J. Lausche signs it. If Lausche pigeon-holes the bill without signing the measure, it will require 10 additional days before automatically becoming a law. The states chief executive has expressed keen dissatisfaction with the bill, claiming it requires "the public — rather than the track operators — to pay the additional tax called for in the measure." The State Senate recently revised the bill as it was adopted by the House. The Senate passed the revised measure, 32-0. It has now gone back to the House for concurrence in the Senate changes. This action may consume about 10 days. Senator C. Stanley Mechem R-Nelson-ville, president pro tern of the Senate, said that under the proposed bill, the state would realize 5 per cent in average percentage tax in comparison with 2.2 per cent received in 1952.
