Phillip J. Baker Manager Of Atlantic City Course ATLANTIC CITY, N. J., May 6.— The Atlantic City Racing Association today announced the appointment of Phillip J. Baker as manager of the seashore course, which opens its 50-day meeting on August 11. The action was taken at the monthly meeting of the tracks board of directors. Thomas J. Lyons, general manager, who has been ill and on leave of absence, continues in that post. Robert J. Quigley, who has been serving as Bakers assistant, has been elevated to the latter s former position of comptroller. Baker came to the Atlantic City track in 1948 as comptroller after having served with the mutuel organization of the late Mortimer Mahoney for nearly 20 years. He is well known in racing circles, having served as head cashier and head of the money rooms in most of the tracks along the East Coast. He is married, has three children and makes his home in nearby Longport.
