Skins Sign Former USC Star LOS ANGELES, Calif., May 5 UP.— Walt Ashcraft, who played tackle on the University of Southern California football team in 1948, 49 and 52, has been signed by the Washington Redskins of the National Football League. He was an All-Service lineman in 1951 when he played on the San Diego Marine Corps recruit depot team. He spent 1950 and 51 in the Marines. Weighing 250 pounds and six feet, six inches tall, Ashcraft was the tallest player on the 1952 Trojan team.
