Would Halt Ring Bout After Five Knockdowns The Illinois Legislature has been asked to enact a law requiring a referee to stop a boxing match when a contestant has been knocked down five times. Rep. James J. Yacullo R-Chicago introduced the bill Tuesday as a result of the recent Boston fight in which Tommy Collins hit the canvas 10 times before the match was halted.
