Kern Stock Goes on Block At Palatine Farm Tonight Yearlings, Juveniles, Broodmares And Two Stallions to Be Offered Humphrey S. Finney, vice-president and general manager of the Fasig-Tipton Co., arrived in Chicago to take charge of the M. A. Kern dispersal sale. He will be joined today by George Swinebroad, internationally known stock auctioneer from Lexington, Ky. Finney stated that he was impressed with the stock being offered, .particularly the three Illinois -bred yearlings who are well up in growth and look like promising racing material. The sale will be conducted tonight Thursday, at 7:30 at Kerns Lexington Fields Farm located on route 72 Higgins Road, one-quarter mile west of junction 53. The farm is located 5 miles south of Palatine and 3 miles south of Arlington Heights. It is easily reached by automobile. The 27 head to be offered includes three ] . yearlings, two by Littletown, and one by Pyracanth. Littletown cut quite a figure in , stakes in this area when in competition , and has been serving at stud at Lexington Fields along with Pyracanth. Both stallions . will be sold at tonights vendue. Nine two-year-olds by such well known , sires as Talon, Free For All, Triplicate, Page Boots, Adaris, Patrimony and Maedic, are in the offerings. Fiesta Way and Line Drive are among , the four three-year-olds to be offered, and [ in addition there are three four-year-olds. Six broodmares are in the lot to be sold j and these include Beryl M., a sister to Lex-town, . who won fame in the Kern colors. Three of the mares have foals at side, two are due to foal and one is barren. A full line of stable equipment likewise ; will be sold. Kern is. disposing of all his 5 turf holdings, due to ill health.
