J I Ralph West Adds to Duties HOLLYWOOD PARK, Inglewood, Calif., May 6. — Ralph West, who already had one of the most powerful public stables on the grounds, added further potency to his string with the acquisition of the horses owned by Mrs. Connie M. Ring. West had four of the Ring horses under his care at Tanforan, but didnt take over the entire string until his arrival over the week end. West said yesterday that the Ring silks would be represented by both Blue Trumpeter and Joystick in the 5,000 added Premiere Handicap, opening day feature next Tuesday. He also announced that Ralph Neves and Ismael Valenzuela have been engaged to ride the pair. The Ring candidates worked as a team Monday and sizzled out a five-eighths of a mile drill in :5925.
