POWDERSMOKE was cleverly handled and closely pressed NATCHEZ MAID for -the pace, gained a slight advantage from the outside in the stretch drive and continued doggedly to gain the decision. NATGHEZ MAID held a slight advantage racing next to the rail rounding the turn, appeared to be in slightly close quarters inside of the winner in the final drive and fought it out gamely. HONEY BIRD dropped in behind the top pair on the turn and was steadied into the stretch, then came to the outside and finished well. SWIZZLE raced in the clear throughout and was making up distance at the end. BOBBYS BULL lacked early speed. DANNY 0. faltered. MARCHESE was taken up. after the start. BOLD COMMAND rapidly opened a commanding lead, never was menaced and held his speed to win in handy fashion. CHARMING HOST showed first away from the gate, but guickly gave way to the winner, then raced alongwell to be safely best of the others. WINDSOR KING lacked speed to stay with the top pair in the opening quarter, then raced evenly. ROYAL BRIAR raced well outside of horses into the stretch, then tired. FLARESPUR had no mishap. GO BETWEEN was steadily urged after a half-mile to wear down POINT FORTUNE, quickly disposed of that one and drew clear under mild pressure. CABOOSE was outrun into the stretch, then closed with a belated bid. SWEET NAOMI was hard punished the last quarter mile and rallied but mildly. POINT FORTUNE was under wraps while holding a long lead, but flattened out badly after six furlongs. DUFFIN quit. BRIAN BORU refused to extend himself. Overweight Sweet Naomi, 3 pounds. SPARTAN QUEEN gradually wore down LAUREL SPRINGS to take command in the early stretch, bore out and bumped IS YOURS just inside the furlong pole and continued to drift ,wide under urging. She was disqualified for impeding IS YOURS-and was placed third. LAUREL SPRINGS sprinted into aclear lead, saved all possible ground in the drive and held on fairly well. IS YOURS was well placed behind the leaders, appeared ready to lodge a strong challenge in the stretch but was bumped by SPARTAN QUEEN and, after swerving, could not regain his speed. RARE MUSIC saved ground and finished well without menacing. GOSH began slowly. REJANE was not a serious factor. TOP AGAIN raced " very wide on the turn. The latter raced closest to the winner under occasional rousing and finished gamely. CENTENAIRE raced in company with STEPPER UPPER,-outgamed that one and held WINNING STRIDE safe. The latter gradually improved position and was closing strongly at the end. STEPPER UPPER wasunder steady urging and did not seriously, threaten. SPEEDY WAVE was taken back from the top pair soon after the start, remained in hand into the far turn, then faltered in the stretch drive. IRON HEEL was lightly pressed to preserve a clear lead through the opening five furlongs, easily drew out from the field thereafter and, after losing distance racing wide intothe stretch, was being pulled up in the last sixteenth. SWIVET was urged forward down the back stretch and appeared mildly threatening, but was no match .for the winner thereafter. SEA TALE, sluggish early, closed well. for. his placing. MONTAGNAIS was forced back when SWIVEP came in slightly at the break, made a mildly impressive run entering the stretch, but was tiring at the end.
