V-Two Punctual Choice at Delaware Rokeby Stable Colt Tips Mohammedan Westrope Has Mount Length Clear of Foe in Royal Blood Purse, With Post Card Third By JOE HIRSCH DELAWARE PARK, Santon, Del., June 14. Rokeby Stables" V-Two, under. a heady ride by Jack Westrope, rocketed through the final furlong to overtake and beat the front-running Mohammedan a length in the featured Royal Blood Purse here today. Paul Mellons four-year-old son of Fair Trial, a 3-to-2 choice in the six-furlong event, recorded his first victory of the year and returned .00 to his numerous supporters among the 12,987 present. Mras. Walter M. Jeffords Post Card was a rather distant third, four lengths back. V-Two had started four times previously this season and had been in the money on three occasions, although without a score. His last effort had been a iface behind War Age two weeks ago. Sets Blistering Pace Mahammedan set a blistering pace from the outset and was five lengths to the good at the half-mile pole with Jack the Great and then Muscovado leading the remainder of the field of seven. V-Twb had been saving ground along the rail but Westrope, with no opening to the immediate front and pressed for time, took his horse to the outside and moved at the turn. V-Two was abrest of the pack at the three-sixteenths pole and unleashed a spirited move in the final eighth to grind out a well-earned victory in 1:11. The win marked a double for Westrope who had been up on Sleep Late in the fourth race. Warner W. Waters Bea Marony moved at the quarter pole to gain a two-length triumph over Lebanon Lad in the co-featured fifth race. The five-year-old mare was in command through the final furlong and returned 5.20. Lebanon Lad outlasted Tip II. by a neck for place position. Daly Stables Copake set the early pace with the favored Lebanon Lad in close attendance. The Hypnotist H. gelding was urged to the front at the head of the turn by jockey Bob Stovall but Bea Marony moved quickly, drew abreast at the three-sixteenths pole and was ridden out for the score. In the Market and Sohgai combined for a Daily Double pay-off of 6.20.
