Three Horses Drill Five-Eighths In :59 at Lincoln Fields UNCOLN FIELDS, Crete, 111., June 14. Horses working over the local track this morning and Sunday demonstrated that the Will County course is much faster at present than at any previous time since the current meeting began "on May 20. This was forecast Saturday when the 2 -year-old filly, Lea Lane, whose race was exceptional, of course stepped the five furlongs of the Miss America Stakes in :59 to equal the track record. That record was established in 1938 by the two-year-old American Bird, and had not been equalled since. Several good moves were recorded today and Sunday. The five-year-old mare, Gala Fete; the six-year-old horse. Spur On, and the two-year-old colt, Munchausen, each went five-eighths handily in ;.59. Happy Go Lucky made his best move in some time, breezing five furlongs in 1:01. Good Call stepped the same distance in 1:00. Arab Actress three-eighths was accomplished in :35. Gushing Oil went three-quarters in 1:13.
