Shaws Pride Succumbs FAIRMOUNT PARK, Collinsville, 111., June 14. R. W. Shaw reported that the aged gelding, Shaws Pride, died at the home farm in Benton, HI., at the age of 15. Shaws Pride was named Best Illinois-bred in 1947 and was a favorite with many race fans at both Fairmount Park and Dade Park. His main triumphs during his 12 years at the races was winning the Navy Day Handicap at Churchill Downs and the Great Western Handicap at Washington Park. Shaw bred and raised the gelding which had earned over 5,000.
