Double at River Downs Returns ,075.40 Master Khan, Space Cadet Tally In First Two Races, Respectively RIVER DOWNS, California, Ohio, June 14. The weather went through a complete cycle which is not unusual in this part of the country at this season. The day dawned, bright and sunny, turned partly cloudy about time for the first race, became increasingly cloudy and hotter and was accompanied by thunder and lightning for the second race with a light drizzle added. As the horses were parading postward for the fifth race a hard rain blanketed the track and the remainder of the events will probably be contested on a sloppy track. The largest Daily Double of the current season and the second largest in the history of facing at this plant was registered here this afternoon. P. Holthus Master Khan and jockey Norman Hart were victorious in the opener and the Old Master gelding was part of the field in the straight betting. Ritter and Kochs Space Cadet and jockey C. L. Martin took down the honors in the second event, for a ,075.40 Double. Jockey W. D. Lucas tied up the score with jockey Anthony Licata in the pace for the riding honors to date. Lucas was astride H. K. Stevens Tamalina in the third and H. Jolleys Helot in the fourth for two consecutive victories for his double tally on the days card.
