PROMPT gradually worked way forward to the stretch, was sent to the outside for the drive and, closing fast under brisk handling, wore down the leaders in the last sixteenth. BUTCH WOOD, a keen factor from the start, reached the lead between calls during the stretch run, but was unable to hold the winner. WENEEDAWYN, away fast, dropped back after the start finished willingly under punishment, but could not overtake the top pair. DISCHARGE went to the front early set the paceto i the final furlong; then faltered. SHORT CABLE lacked early foot. NIGHT CABLE began sluggishly. MAIDS LIGHT raced-wide. BLAZER HORNET raced well to the stretch, then gave way. FLASH RED tired after displaying early foot. BILLDIVI was through early. HAY MARKET showed nothing. IF YOU VOTE lacked early speed but finished fast SUN-SONG tired during the drive. SURE TRY was never dangerous. PLEASURE-WITH gave way after racing well to the stretch. SHARP MISS had a rough trip. CARACAS KID raced, wide. GALAHAD, forced back when crowded approaching the upper, turn, failed to recover.
